Introducing the women that will be creating the costume designs for our 2017-18 Season!
Noel Jordan (The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mamma Mia!) is a teacher, director, and designer from Warm Springs, Georgia where she lives with her husband and daughter. She has worked in public education, teaching theatre for the past 22 years. First earning a Bachelors degree in middle grades education, and going on to earn masters and specialist degrees in secondary English education, Noel landed her dream job as a theatre educator and completed her certification in theatre as well... combining her many loves of art, theatre, sewing, performing, and literature into one thrilling package. Because of her mother’s constant and patient sewing instruction, Noel learned to sew and design her own clothes at a young age. Now, in her off hours, she manages her own business, creating puppets, mascots, costumes, and clothing items. She has created puppets and costumes for churches, film, stage, resorts and restaurants; her creations have traveled the United States from the east to the west coast and into Australia. She enjoys the creative process and is thrilled to be working with such talented and driven theatre folk in her new summer home of San Antonio.
Cordelia Rios (Constellations, All is Calm, A Bright New Boise, Hand to God, If/Then & Assistant on The Hunchback of Notre Dame) was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. She earned her BA in Theatre Arts at the University of the Incarnate Word where she focused on costume and property design. Prior to the Playhouse, Ms. Rios has worked at the Contemporary American Theatre Festival as a stitcher/dresser for the summer repertory season. Her design credits for the Playhouse include: The Glass Menagerie, All is Calm, Fool for Love, The Secret Garden, Disgraced, and Urinetown: the Musical. On her free time, she paints portraits, crochets, and spends time with her kitties. She would like to thank Mr. Green for this opportunity, as well as past educators and colleagues who've helped her over the years. Additionally, she would like to thank her family and friends for their infinite support.
Sara Brookes (Wit, Little Women, The Bridges of Madison County, Assassins & Assistant on Mamma Mia!) is thrilled to once again be designing for The Playhouse San Antonio. She graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre and has been sewing since she was a wee tot with her grandmother, so this is a dream come true for her. Most recently, her work was seen in The Playhouse’s Beauty and the Beast for which she was Lead Costume Design and Coordinator. Some of her favorite designs include: Bye Bye Birdie, Charlotte’s Web, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for Christian Youth Theatre of San Antonio; Lead design of Boeing, Boeing and select designs for The Diviners at the Sheldon Vexler Theatre; Select designs for Young Frankenstein, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Dirty, Rotten Scoundrels at Circle Arts.
The Playhouse produces professional, live theater that
educates, inspires, and connects communities.
